Howdy Folks! Thought I would start this thread off so we could have a place to shoot the bull! We have these sites on other boards that really rack up the hits! I'm mightymikehedman from Atlanta and we had the pleasure of meeting yaw's big chief, the world famous "OUTLANDISH" at WINDROCK MOUNTAIN this past weekend. Unfortunately, his BOMB developed charging problems, which lead to a dissapointing trip. Hopefully, the powers to be, have arranged for a timely delivery of the badly needed parts. So, whatz the weather doing up there? It's getting to be darn hottt down here in Georgia...we need rain BADDD! We have forrest fires in the southern part of the state, that already have claimed close to 80,000 acres!

Not sure my schedule will be then with the new job coming up, so I cannot commit to anything that far in advance. If I am off, you can count me in.

Well it would still be a PO but should be a big improvement over the Mrs' 335. I still think a 400 Outty would be a perfect machine for her:tg:

We were supposed to be in Iron River starting last Sunday May6th thru Thursday May 10th. We ended up canceling because of severe drought conditions and restrictions. The trails weren't really closed but there were so many fire restrictions we just decided to cancel, also was a posssibility of trails being closed once we got there, but from what I heard from the resort owner (that we were supposed to be staying at) they haven't closed yet but have recieved very little precipitation. Still extremely dry up there.

Yeah it's crazy dry here. You can smell smike and there is a haze in the air today......this is the latest from MN DNR:

Minnesota has activated its second Incident Management Team in less than a week. The Cherry fire broke out about 1:00 pm Thursday and an Incident Management Team will be reporting later tonight. The Cherry fire is about 10 miles east of Hibbing and estimated to be about 600 acres in size. Currently 18 homes are threatened.

This afternoon two CL-215 water scoopers, two heavy air tankers and three helicopters worked to prevent the fire from growing and protect homes and structures. Two Minnesota Guard helicopters have been activated by Governor Pawlenty and are at Hibbing to help with the firefight. The Incident Management Team is expected to assume command of the fire Friday.

The Department of Natural Resources announced Thursday that fire restrictions will be increased to all of St.. Louis County. These restrictions, also in effect on Superior National Forest and Voyageur National Park lands, do not allow campfires or charcoal grills, but gas and propane fired stoves are allowed. Use of acetylene torches or welding is prohibited and no burning permits are being issued.

Restrictions are being imposed for a line north of Hwy 210 west to the intersection with Hwy 10 at Motley and continuing west to the North Dakota border, this includes all lands within the Chippewa National Forest. These fire restrictions will begin Friday, May 11 at noon. In this area the following restrictions will be in place;

No burning permits will be issued.

Campfires are allowed ONLY in a designated fire receptacle associated with a residence, dwelling, campground, or resort.

No welding, acetylene torches or other devices with open flame.

Although cooler temperatures are forecast for the next couple of days little chance of rain is predicted for the next 5 days.

The Ham Lake fire was active on both sides of the border today. An additional 7-9 miles of the Gunflint Trail is under evacuation. About 25,000 acres are burning in Ontario.

Ya know all these fires are scary! We have not heard about yaw's fires down here on the news, but the California fires are on the news all the time. I wonder how many forrest fires there are in the US right now? Global warming has definately affected our average rainfall for years, thusfore making conditions right for these fires. Whatz next?

We currently have 55,000 acres burned. There are 500+ firefighters up there and they have little control of it

Timebomb fires are a normal part of nature. trees get tall block the sun from hitting the forest floor.  fires clear the trees and allow new growth. gives the animals something they can eat. Lightning used to spark off the fires and they would burn til nature put them out. now we do. :///

The news reported today that several kids were found to be setting some of the fires here in south Georgia and that's after firefighters nearly had it under contol. Man what ever happened to the good ole @$$ whooping when a kid needed some special education?  Man, I got my @$$ tore up a bunch when I went against what I was warned not to do...at least it helped  make me think twice before I pulled a good one, but we never pulled pranks that affected the lives of so many!

It doesn't take kids to start fires. We had a couple of idiots, one mid 20's the other almost 50 that was breaking into cabins in norther Wi. To cover up thier breakins they were starting fires to cover up the break ins. Heard one of the fires burned over 1200 acres and other cabins. F:pod:ing IDIOTS.

Speaking of adult fires, I need to find an ashtray to use on my riding mower. I have about 6 hours of mowing today.....or I should just quit the damn things....
