Heres the scoop  the nitty gritty  the real deal

i have/Had a choice between a 04 TwinPeaks 700 with stock tires and rims  and a set of aftermarket 26"Rims/Mudlites

or

a 05 KingQuad

for about the same price   were talking 72 hundred out the door  with good Suzuki financing deal

i drove 3 Big bores today the 2 above and a used Grizzly  the sales rep/tech wanted me to try all 3  after he knew i owned a 04 Kodiak 450

but he quoted me a price on a non XT 800  [when he gets them] for $8000

I drove the King Quad first

What i like the Digital read out

 the 2/4/Diff lock controls

The sposed good EFI gas mileage  [30MPG?}

looks wise everything  -spose to have strong Axel's  and good rear sway bars

I drove it around dealers vacant lot  basically  a 1/2 block long  hard pack gravel and weeds future building site for the dealers

my impressions  WOW  Smooth engine and Fast  repeat- Fas-t if the speedo is to believed i gave the Wood from dead stop and with 2/3 of that 1/2 block -i let off gas looked down speedo said 51? my kodiak would have took 3 times that to hit 51

only thing i did not like  rev limited kicks in to easy in Forward Diff lock  and i think you have to hold it in  ?

Second best IMHO was the Grizz  like abig Kodiak  duh?

3rd Twin Peak's  whining engines are not my thing  this is just my personal deal  and it felt the slowest of the 3 i drove today in that vacant lot

I rode an 800 Outty today. Roost, all I can say is to try one before you buy anything......it is totally unbelievable! I was riding some small whoops on an old railroad grade, figured I was going pretty fast, probably about 50. I looked down at the speedo and I was doing 70. That is the smoothest most powerful thing you can imagine. Actually you can't imagine, you have to ride one.......

Maybe  they say the firn rear sway bars make this IRS handle like a solid axle  and there is already a "Quiet" Performance pipe and a Power Chip for  the King Quad[accordding to the Tech-and tech also says clutching is available. this Guy about= 30 = seemed to know his stuff  now its 600$ extra to extend warranty to 4 yrs  and its 4.9% interest for 24 months  i am half sold on this machine but is the price $7200 out the door  good?

Roost think about this. Your already talking piping and chipping the King. That would put you close to the price of the Outty. For about a grand more than the stock King Quad you can have performance that will stomp that King (sorry survey guy) even after you make the mods and will probably be at about the same money only with a stock bike. That warranty you are about to buy may be voided by installing a chip or even the pipe.

Forget the power of the 800. Check it out for the ride and handling and stability and see what you think. Oh hell you can't forget the power. That thing demands respect!

I'm not trying to sway your decision and the Suzuki is a nice bike but you really should try out the 800 outty........you will be blown away. Guaranteed! I was!!

but  I can't pick one up Friday  with $39 month for 24 months[minimun}gives me time to sell the Kodiak[-next Spring] and ride a big Bore Labor Day weekend and all Fall  grrrrrrrr

i final thought  that big single is smooth  silky smooth  and no CVT noise that i noticed  ?What do You think HP is  honest  on the King Quad?

And this Mechanic seems to be dialed in on the aftermarket  tweaks

just things to consider

patience wait till next Spring ? thats the smart thing to do  Smiles  lol

My guess is about 43-45 hp. The Prairie 700 is a bit faster and that has 46hp. Just an educated guess though. Others known are the Brute Force 750 @ 51hp and the 800 Outlander @ 62hp...........:sm:

BTW just so you are aware of the recalls on the King

Yes i saw recall forum ty

Boy i drove both a King Quad and a 700 Twin Peaks  Firday there was no comparison the King Quad was way faster  to me ?And the Twin Peaks had  loud CVT noise

after drivng a Twin Peaks  -new 2oo4  i would have choose the used Grizzly i drove for my ride  without hesitation  first
i need to check with waite park dealer today for a even better price another $200 lowwer  and i'm sold on King Quad   :):):)

I need to say the Twin Peaks had 26" mudlites on it with aftermarket Rims ?

From the pulls I have attended nothing out pulls the Kawie 700 prairie, not even the 800 Bomb. But then again you have the 700 with SRA which will pull better than IRS. This is stock to stock machines.

Finally  i am off to 2 Suzuki dealers  my local Guy i got the kodiak from and 1 in St Cloud.  The more i think about the more i like the fact that in the small town of Glencoe yesterday the ATV saleman was also the mechanic  i did not have to go thru 3 people for technicals ?'s  like  what machines are breaking axles?whats the gas mileage  ect

Another Factor  my Kodiak has never been in  the shop  [1800 miles] for me to bring a wheeler into the shop means bringing it in on the weekend  and picking it up the next weekend  -2 weekends shot basically]now we can have a spare rig for trail/trips breakdowns-because All of our riding is trips. But hopefully if i go with the King Quad i get the same reliability i have have with my Yamaha  - meaning its not a Brand New model  -some of the bugs have been worked out ,Feedback Welcome on this  ????

For mostly trail with a little mud I would say Kenda Bearclaws

589's ride like bricks
Dirt Devils in the 25" size have a pretty shallow tread depth

BTW everybody says the Bearclaws are an excellent tire in the snow

ATV Outfitters has some good prices too

Well thats different then LOL The Mud Light radials(XTR?) are supposed to be a great tire! The regular Mud Light (deep lug) are a good tire too and the 26" Dirt Devils have the deeper tread but they are kind of heavy too

Roost radials kick butt!....don't forget the bighorns (my favorite trail tire)
