Looks good,.................. for a grizzly JK :).

Looks like your having "I just got to ride it, moment".

Does the blue seem like it's going to hold up well?

It's not yellow, but the whole design fits me like a glove. So far I love it, but I went to the grizz from a 2001 Honda Rubicon. It was a great machine, but had no suspension, hard steering, and just a little weak in the power plant. Now I have IRS and great suspension(stock), a lot more power and EPS.

I am trying to decide about wheels and tires, should I get bigger 26or 27 or stay with the 25.  I am still learning and could use any help you guys can offer. Pros and cons maybe.

I think I'm going to try the exhaust tip and opening the airbox to see what that does for power. I'd love to see 70-75 MPH out of her but 64 is the max I've seen.

Let's face it, It's not a Outty.

You probably have the power to turn any tires you want, taller tires will give a little more ground clearance, but raise the center of gravity also, it's kid of tuff choice. I'm glad I stayed with the 25's on mine, especially with the Bighorn's the 25's have a much deeper lug pattern to start with. Really depends on the terrain you ride over, and if your going to uprade shocks later or raise the quad in some other fashion.

Looks good.. as stated in another thread here.. I have a friend that just got a new 700 griz... got to ride it today with the tracks installed and I was very impressed. Power steering worked very well, plenty of power... nice overall feel to it. But those tracks were the show stealer... can't believe the snow he went through with those tracks.. incredible. Enjoy your new rig and let us know if you have any feedback on how its running, good bad or indifferent.

I finally got to take it out on trails foe a couple of hours.:ban: I guess the key is to take a lot of time cleaning it up.:tg:  It ran great. It did die on me a couple of time at slow speed or idle. I heard they tend to do that on occasion. The power steering absolutely does not take away the feeling of the terrain underneath you. We went from frozen ground to an area of slight mud(like 1 inch) and I knew it right away.

This thing has plenty of power. I see pics and read about big mods people do and it's easy to get caught up in that, but I do not race and most of our trails are closed in woods. I put it side by side with the bros 660 Grizz and beat him. He says not by much, but I looked back I had good lead on him. It tops out at about 64-65 MPH. That's faster than my wife drives her minivan. I will prolly stick with 25s but will eventually get a better tread and maybe some rims.

Even if you decide to stay with 25" tires, definately get some different ones!

I had a 700 Grizz and I would stay with the 25's. I had ITP TerraCross's and I also tried a set of Maxxis Razr 4 speeds. I really liked the terra cross and they were bullet proof. The Grizz has alot of power but bigger tires affect it more than the big twins (Can Am's). The Razr's are very light but easy to cut. If you are going to run the Razr's mount them to beadlocks, so you can make it back to the truck. I also had a set of 26" TerraCross's mounted on 14" wheels, it madea difference in power.

If you need any more info on the Grizz let me know. I really wished I still had mine.

By the way, the blue plastic holds up OK, not great but OK. If you get a white creas mark in it, use a smal propane torch with a small flame and wave it over the area and it will pull the blue color back into the crease.

Here is what a heavily pimped out grizz can look like.  As you can see I’ve added a lot of toys including some crutchfield shocks and on the tire side I went with 27” XTRs on 14” wheels.  This made a huge difference and even before the Dalton kit power was not a problem.  The only reason I went with the Dalton was to smooth out the shifting a bit and to help when running at low speeds in high with the 4x4 engaged.  Think of a muddy trail.

As for you speed question you are hitting the electronic limiter.  I have a Dynateck box on order that is supposed to remove that limit.  I don’t see the need to go beyond 65 but the Dynatek is supposed to have other benefits as well.  Modding the airbox will help but you really need a fuel controller to fatten the bike up.  The tip helps the sound but doesn’t really add a lot of power.

As a side note another nice upgrade that was put on after this picture is a bar riser setup from ROX.  I went with the universal bars and the 5” risers with the spider grips.  One of the cheaper upgrades and it made a big difference.  Also check out the 2R racing components for a few low cost but very effective upgrades.

That is a NICE looking ride. Wish I could see the those rims. It sounds like you really know what your talking about. I am not very knowledgable in mechanics, so knowing what to do and how far to go is a real trick for me. Also doing anything that sounds major is a little scary, like mod boxes. This is my third ATV, but the first new one and the first one I have tried to modify at all. I am somewhat limited by budget cause this is not my only hobby. The Grizzly is a very nice machine off the showroom IMO, but you guys have wanting to personalizeit and maybe get more power. I guess that's what I get for joining a can-am site.

Probably the next thing I wouls look at doing(other than lights for the new bumper) is wheels and that will be awhile to save up for. I really appreciate all the great input from you guys and don't feel like your talking down to me. Whats a bar riser and spider grips, anyway?

Bar riser, raises the handle bars, the taller you are the better they feel being raised.

Most(if not all) aftermarket wheels will widen your stance .:2cent:

Maxxis Bighorn's are good for tires, kinda bulletproof.:2cent:

I always lean towards modding for dependability, functionality, comfort as apposed to "bling". :2cent::2cent:

So lets see, that's almost 10 cents worth. :)

I have done 25 inch tires mounted on 12 inch ss108s and they make a huge difference.  I have also done the 5 inch Rox risers with ProTaper bars and the Grizz feels 100% better than before.  These 2 mods alone will improve your machine tenfold IMO.

The 25" Terracross tires are not very heavy at all for 6 ply tires...they will offer ALOT better traction and more puncture resistance than the stockers...The 26" one's do add some weight to the bike that you can notice.

The Bighorns are probably the best trail tire made, but they are a little on the heavy side, also if you choose Bighorns, stick with 25" ones, these tires tend to run a little on the big side anyway. The next set of tires I buy will be 25" Bighorns on some "special" wheels, which I'll reveal at a later date...work in progress...

The handlebars on the Grizz are bent kind of high anyway aren't they? I have heard of guys buying the riser but also installing a flatter set of bars to keep the bar height about the same. I mean the Grizz handlebars have got a serious bend to them...

One last thing you may want to consider, Crutchfield does have shocks for the Grizz, Ed built up a red one for his wife...that bike is probably the best riding and handling bike I have ever sat on...honest.

Good luck with your new toy, now the fun part comes, adding the bling-bling...

The Terras are great for my riding style and so far have been bullet proof and yes the stock bars are not good, puts your wrists in a very unnatural position for riding so I did get a flatter set of bars and now can ride forever without feeling fatigued.  Best 2 mods a guy can do IMO.

TerraCross tires are on the top of my list for sure. They are almost bullet proof.

I had 3.5 inch rox risers with flex bars. It was the perfect setup IMO, not to high not to low, and it didn't put as much stress on the steering stem with the lower risers. I also tried the 2"  risers but had throttle to tank interference, and they were a little low.

But whatever you do, change the stock bars. A buddy of mine bought an '08 SE Grizz today and we changed his bars this evening.

By the way, the 08 special edition has got to be the best looking atv to date.:dan:

Well I went for the riser package to get the bars up and back a little more.  I was trying to get the bike so I rode farther back on the seat.  I will also highly recommend the Cructhfield shocks.  As for the tires it really depends on how you ride.  I mostly ride trails with a bit of mud and I wanted a radial tire with the taller wheels for handling.  Here is a comparison picture of the bars and also a side view of the bike after installing the tires and wheels.   BTW you might also want to do some reading on the grizzly central site as well.  There are a lot of reviews and a lot of different information.
