Well Yammay released their 2007 lineup, and its a mixed bag.

The Grizz has been improved with a 26cc bump up in ccs. They call it a 700, but it is really a 686. More importantly it is an EFI machine now. I figured Yamaha was testing out the 686cc in the Raptor during the previous year, and what do you know the Grizz now has it. This is good since the motor has been tested for the previous year. It also appears the height has been lowered to provided better stability. The CVT intake and exhaust has been approved also. The most interesting feature is the power steering, I will like to see how that holds up and works in the real world setting. Overall, I think Yamaha was sick and tired of hearing the KQ is the more re-fined version of the Grizz, and they stepped up and made the Grizz nearly equal to it. Being a long life Grizz fan I am happy to see the changes, yes it would of been nice to see a monster 750 or 800cc V-twin motor, but the overall feel of the machine is more important.

Yamaha has renamed their line-up the Kodiak, and Bruin are now called Grizzly. Basically you have the Grizzly and Big Bear to choose from.

The Big Bear has improved substantially with IRS, and a locker. This machine has been very popular and will now become even more popular. Great improvements.

The Grizzly 350 now has IRS, and a locker.

A new wolverine has been added which is the Wolverine 350.

Side by side units have stayed the same, and the sport quads added the Raptor 350.

All in all Yamaha has moved in the right direction I feel especially with the changes to the Big Bear, and bringing the Grizz on par to the KQ. If you are in the market for a 700cc machine I definately would look at the Grizz 700 or the KQ 700.

What do you guys think of Yamaha not releasing a 750 or 800 v-twin?

I don't think Yammy needs a V-Twin, BRP makes enough for everybody!  I'm intrigued by the attention they have paid to it's 4x4 ability-  The PS is supposed to almost eliminate the bars being knocked out of your hands after hitting obstacles, the approach angles (at least the rear) are improved, they have used angled control arms front & rear and I think you might actually achieve their listed GC!

A review (no negatives, however, just positives):

It would have been fun to see if they can build a high power 800 and compare it to poo and can-am 800, especially the reliability they are so famous of.

Thats good news for Yammy fans. I am also interested to see how that steering works out and holds up

I think a lot of people are let down with yamaha but I think this machine will be one of the best out there for 07.I have owned 2 Grizz's and loved them both.Put a lot of trouble free miles on them too.If the power steering proves reliable,I think everyone else will do the same with the big bores.I wish I had it on my max.

I also don't think you guys should be slamming it against the 800 OL.  It would really compete against the 650 in price & displacement.  I think it's OK if they leave the ultimate ATV market to Can-Am.  They are just choosing to compete a class down- with the 650 OL, the KQ and the Rincon.  Everybody slams the 800 for the cost $9K + but then wants all the other manufacturers to out-do them-  Nothing's free!

Exactly KC, people drive me nuts when they complain about the Outty 800 and its price. Listen this is the first ATV that has combine comfort, stability, and handling with insane power. The overall quality and feel is great also. In addition its the fastest production ATV on the market. Guess, what people you are going to pay for all of it. The Sportsman isn't too far in price either. Heck if you buy a Honda you are also paying for the same price with nearly half of the options.

Was looking at the 700 on the showroom floor.Rear springs looked pretty heavy so i pushed down on it. HOLY FRIG. If you weigh 500 lbs this is the bike for you.If felt like it had 2x4s for springs. Salesman said it doesn't need a soft rear suspension  because of  the power steering . Good one.

the rear springs have to be close to the weight using it if they are way TOO strong when you land a jump it will wanna bounce the back end and cause a "reverse endo" effect not to mention you will prolly need to be in traction by the end of a long days ride LOL

Where did you see one on the showroom floor?  Here in WA state, they still don't know when they willl get there first one.  Someome on HL says they have been delayed because of a tranny issue?

This board might be heating up soon, as soon as I can sell my wife's Grizzly, and get her the 700.

they told me late Aug and it was early Oct ... the poor dealers dont have any control when they are getting a shipment and they just pass on what they are told which usually is real close
